With this post being huge, I thought the best / most useful way to share my experience would be a Q&A, lots of you sent over questions via instagram stories and I’ve done my best to answer them :)

  1. What was your favourite place to stay?

My favourite place would have to be Gili Air, honestly the most beautiful place I’ve ever been. We took a boat from Benoa harbour with Patagonia express. We only stayed for 3 nights and wished we could have stayed for at least a week. The snorkelling is amazing, you can swim with turtles in their natural habitat.

  2. Any Tips when travelling around?

Pack light. Could not recommend this any more. Take a rucksack not a suitcase. I had to learn the hard way.

If your looking to get a taxi then look out for the company Blue Bird - They’re blue and have a distinctive blue bird logo. Don’t just get in any Taxi.

  3. Do you need a license to hire a scooter?

Absolutely not, anyone and everyone can drive a scooter. You will literally see 8year olds on them, with 2 other kids on the back. They’re not strict at all.

  4. How much did the trip cost you?

The trip cost around £2100 for both myself and Jake, including everything.

The flights were £500 each, return with Emirates. A very comfortable flight and would recommend them.

Hotels / Air bnbs varied. We booked them before we went so we could plan our trip and be certain we would have somewhere to stay, however it worked out more expensive that way. It would have been much cheaper to pay on arrival but the issue with that is, it could be fully booked.

We took £500 spending money between us for just over two weeks (for food, trips and travel), this was more than enough as its super cheap to eat and drink. Scooter hire is really cheap to and is the best way to get around this was only £4 per day. We also hired a drive for the day who took us around Ubud to all the tourist spots, this was equivalent to just £28. Well worth it!

  5. What was your favourite part of the trip?

I can’t just pick one! I loved the Monkey Jungle, that was the most amazing experience. I also loved visiting the fish market, it was perfect for pictures and my whole time on Gili Air, swimming with turtles in their natural habitat is insane. Plus the beaches are just beautiful
